It seems odd to thank God for something like Hurricane Katrina... so many lives were taken, so many homes destroyed, so many families torn apart....
But in the midst of chaos, God is strong. In the quiet tears when there is nothing left to be said, He is waiting with open arms.
James 1:2-4
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
It's amazing how something like a hurricane can bring people together who would normally have no connection. People who spend their whole lives with the belief that no one ever helped them out, that no one was ever there... are suddenly on their rooftops, waving down helicopters and relying on someone they didn't know existed to rescue them.
Have people turned away from God in a time like this? Most likely.. but have others turned to him? Most definitely...
